Goin to a party...but first....

You have to make my blanket mom.....teen queen 3 has been wanting yet another fleece blanket...someday they will take over the house. Anytime I take them into a Hancock's fabric store and they see the mounds of fleece it is time to add one more to the pile growing on their beds. We usually do the tied sort...fringe and tie, fringe and tie. This time we decided to do something different. So I searched and came up with this site that had some ideas....

We decided to try the braided edge finish.....since teen queen 3 was thoroughly adept at making woven potholders on a loom (I have stacks) she felt she would have no problem......all mom had to do was get it to the braiding part......

We used two layers of fleece....no wimpy blankies here...evened out all sides and cut a 4 inch square out of the corners...the instructions on the website said 3 inch but I went with 4 since the fleece was doubled. I then folded each side up 2 inches and zig zagged the seam....a trusty fringe ruler and a rotary cutter is a must...otherwise I would have been doing this for a couple days!......

This shows you what the corners look like and what the fringed edge looks like...I cut 1/2 inch wide fringe....and there had to be a monogram of course......

So right before her sleepover party (she had to go dressed as a cowgirl)....she finished looping one loop into the next creating a braided finish....and it was finished with no time to spare...just like her mother! ; )

This shows the looped edge and then the finished braided edge....it makes a very sturdy edge...

OK!......off to the sleepover!....blanket packed in the bag! She loves it......
